The Dervish with Wings is a small collection of Elif Sezen’s recent and older poems that speculates upon possibilities of transcendence in contemporary lives. The shape-shifting that is a characteristic of her poetry invites a language that is part philosophical and part surreal, and here it explores themes such as displacement and reintegration of human experience. It also brings in some elements of Sufi mysticism, which mirrors Sezen’s cultural background.
